Closed Minds Should Come with Closed Mouths

 according to www.thefreedictionary.com:
Adj.1.close-minded - not ready to receive to new ideas

The moment we open our mouth and say something, let's at least ask ourselves if we're not being closed-minded persons. Are we not too focused on our own points of view and perceptions?

I believe that the main goal whenever we communicate is to achieve MUTUAL UNDERSTANDING. Now, how possible could that be  for people who talk with minds closed? I don't mean to sound righteous here because even myself sometimes commits such mistake of focusing on my own opinion or points of view. Well, yeah, it's a good feeling that we express ourselves or win arguments, but as I continue living as a communication student, I have realized that it isn't all about winning arguments which matters. What's really important is that there is understanding between/among parties, learned from others' ideas, and accepted which has to be accepted.

“It does take great maturity to understand that the opinion we are arguing for is merely the hypothesis we favor, necessarily imperfect, probably transitory, which only very limited minds can declare to be a certainty or a truth.”

-Milan Kundera, Encounter
